State Rep. Todd Stephens, R-Montgomery County, has conceded in his race for a seventh term representing the 151st District, giving Democrats at least a nominal majority in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the first time since 2010.Earlier in the week, there was some thought that some aspects of the 151st count might be challenged.
The Montgomery County result leaves the Democrats with 102 House seats won in this election cycle, though it is quite likely they will still be outnumbered by the Republicans when the 2023-24 legislative session begins on Jan. 3, 2023. Caucus leaders on both sides of the aisle are starting to focus on their strategies for the new session now that the election results are in.
But the joy of what’s ahead for Democratic members - whether it’s realized in January or April - is already starting to seep through the caucus.
