Two years after being diagnosed with Wilson Disease, 17-year-old curler Davis Nicholson will represent P.E.I. at the 2023 Canada Winter Games where he will play second stone for the Brayden Snow rink.

“If I played hockey, basketball, baseball or anything where there might be some form of contact, I would've had to completely drop it out of my life and lose that,” said Davis, who plays second stone with the Brayden Snow-skipped P.E.I. curling entry at the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Summerside.– Davis Nicholson

Davis and his parents scheduled a doctor’s appointment, which led to a busy stretch of events, including Davis being referred to the IWK in Halifax. There would be lots of nervousness over the next two months as Davis awaited the test results. Davis admitted that was a scary time because he could not do anything during that time, and the waiting was the toughest.

Carl said the medication has stabilized the disease with very few side effects. Davis described the transition to a restrictive diet as an easy transition.
