A staple of Oakland First Fridays, Jamaican restaurant Kingston 11 is slated to close March 25. But this isn't exactly the end.
"Over the last couple of months, we just never had enough people on the floor to match the demand of the folks who want to come in and dine here," Kingston 11 co-owner and chef Nigel Jones told SFGATE."And I felt like we were just not giving them the quality service that they expect and deserved, so on a personal and professional level, I wasn't feeling good about that."
This isn't exactly the end for Kingston 11, though. While the restaurant's last day as a full-service restaurant is slated for March 25, Jones is planning to keep the space for catering and private events. And good news for"I have enough bandwidth to put together a team for bartending and service on a case-by-case situation, I just don't have it on a daily basis," Jones explained."First Friday, we know when it's coming, we can plan and have a team together.
