Newhook will be at centre on the No. 1 line Monday night between Juraj Slafkovsky and Josh Anderson — as he has been since the start of training camp — while Reinbacher will be with Kaiden Guhle on the first defence pairing and Mailloux will be with Jordan Harris on the third pairing. “I’m excited,” Reinbacher said after Monday’s morning skate about playing his first game at the Bell Centre. “It’s going to be special. I’m really honoured to play tonight. I hope some good players are on the other side — I hope some Swiss players. Let’s see.”
Newhook, who played the last three seasons with the Avalanche, is also excited about making his Canadiens debut at the Bell Centre.
