Kevin Constantine suspended by outgoing WHL Commissioner Ron Robison
The hammer came down Wednesday on Kevin Constantine, hopefully driving another nail into hockey’s macho, bullying and archaic Old Boys Club.
When Robison was in Regina for a Pats game last week, he sat down for a chat and was asked if he was looking forward to retirement amid all the incidents that seem to be tarnishing hockey’s image these days, Robison replied: When the Lethbridge Hurricanes hired controversial coach Bill Peters last month, like Babcock he insisted he had changed, attended certified sensitivity classes and vowed to become a better person and coach.
Peters’ locker-room tirades became public knowledge and the aftermath is hopefully helping to drag hockey out of its Old Boys Club era.
