Furniture and houseware retailer coming to Lancaster Avenue used to have a store in Dartmouth
— known by many as the Danish IKEA, though in a smaller format — is planning on debuting its selection of furniture and assorted houseware at its first Atlantic Canadian store in Saint John. The chain already operates over 60 stores between Quebec and B.C.
The Saint John franchise will be located at 384 Lancaster Avenue on the city’s west side, formerly and briefly home to T4G Limited, now based uptown, and before that Nuuvera. It’s been vacant for several years. They’ll need a zoning bylaw amendment to make it happen, but city staff are recommending council give it the green light to make way for a potential opening in the first half of 2024.
First founded in 1979, the Brabrand, Denmark-based retailer of everything from mattresses to toilet brushes operates over 3,100 stores in 51 countries.JYSK will need a zone bylaw amendment in order to open at 384 Lancaster Road. - Contributed
