Despite being banned from having guns, Robin Dean Wuttunee took a semi-automatic rifle and ammo to the Onion Lake Cree Nation last year.

On Thursday, Wuttunee, 45, pleaded guilty to attempting to obstruct justice, unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, possessing a firearm while prohibited and attempting to escape custody by breaking through a fence at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre three days after he was denied bail.Article content
Holm added that the potential trafficking element is an aggravating factor because the First Nation, which straddles the Saskatchewan-Alberta border, is “flooded by illegal firearms,” noting the assault-style rifle is capable of discharging multiple rounds in a short amount of time.Article content Wuttunee is from the Red Pheasant First Nation near North Battleford.
