Collin County Sheriff's Dept. deputies patrol Collin County, Texas, Tuesday, July 11, 2017. The Sheriff's Office arrested a Dallas man possessing fentanyl on Feb. 10 The Collin County Sheriff’s Office and North Texas Sheriff’s Criminal Interdiction arrested a Dallas resident with about 6,000 fentanyl pills and a handgun at Central Expressway and Republic Drive in Plano on Friday, authorities said Tuesday.
Authorities found the fentanyl pills and handgun after Eduardo Reyes consented to a vehicle search following a traffic stop. He was charged with the manufacture and delivery of a narcotic over 400 grams and is being held in the Collin County jail on a $402,500 bond. Collin County Sheriff Jim Skinner said in a Tuesday press release that the task force’s efforts to fight the trafficking of fentanyl will save lives.
Skinner said over 100,00 Americans passed from drug overdoses in 2022 and more than half of the deaths were related to fatal fentanyl poisonings. “This seizure illustrates our continuing commitment to use every resource and tactic available to help stem the flow of this deadly poison from entering our communities,” Skinner said.
