The Dalhousie Tigers captured the bronze medal at the U Sports women's volleyball championship in Vancouver on Sunday. - Rich Lam / UBC ThunderbirdsSophomore Talia Vydykhan had a breakout performance to help the Dalhousie Tigers defeat the Manitoba Bisons for the bronze medal at the U Sports women's volleyball championship in Vancouver on Sunday.

In the deciding fifth set, the Bisons had a 14-12 lead but couldn't put away the Tigers. A kill by Lucy Glen-Carter and a Bison attacking error evened the score at 14-14. Charlotte Arsenault also proved a big spark off the bench for the Tigers to contribute eight kills with only one error from the middle. Setter Brett Bolden collected 43 assists and four timely kills while libero Alessandra Nadalini made 25 digs for Dal.

"We had a tough day yesterday and to be able to collect ourselves and find our identity and push through in the fifth set today, I couldn't be more proud of them," said Bulmer a former Tigers setter.
