The program will support up to eight undergraduates a year with scholarships, special programming and interactions with accomplished leaders.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Case Western Reserve University is founding the Roth Institute to help prepare students to address the “increasingly complex challenges facing the globe.”
The institute is supported by a more than $20 million gift given by Joel Roth, a 1958 civil engineering graduate, according to a news release. “The problems are getting bigger and bigger, and more and more lasting,” said Roth. “The Roth Institute will provide highly motivated, quality students a broad array of experiences that will help them become leaders who solve problems and change the future.”
Andrea Hauser will be the Roth Institute’s founding director. Hauser currently works with Case Western’s Flora Stone Mather Center for Women, and worked at the Marvin Center for Student Leadership at Bowling Green State University, Roth has purchased several companies including Fulton Supply, an industrial supply distributor based of out Stone Mountain, Georgia. He also wrote the “20% Solution,” a guide for businesses to analyze their operations to identify savings.
