Cuyahoga County Council coudl extend its jail food vendor agreement with Trinity Services Group, which has faced criticism for serving low-quality food in the county jail.

That three-year contract shakes out to $246,589 per month . The one-year extension is equal to $656,411 per month, a monthly price increase of 166%.

The sheriff’s office did not seek other food vendors before extending the contract and officials are hoping the contract extension will allow enough time to potentially solicit and review other food service proposals, county spokeswoman Jennifer Ciaccia said in an email.The newly proposed agreement includes several new provisions that officials hope will improve oversight and food quality, Corrections Chief Dale Soltis said in an email.
