Amid questions over the future of the Cuyahoga County jail, serious understaffing, and investigations into the deaths of three inmates, Interim Sheriff Steven Hammett is looking to expand his leadership team in the jail.

Madigan said the hires are something Hammett has been exploring since he took over as interim sheriff.The jail’s proposed organizational restructure was not led by or made in consultation with Executive-Elect Chris Ronayne, who takes office in January. Ronayne isafter the county’s initial plans to build new fell through this year.
Pay will be commensurate with experience, the county said. Warden Henry received a raise this summer, increasing her salary to $130,000 per year.
