New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a Wednesday press conference that the state is investigating 102 cases of children with the inflammatory, Kawasaki disease-like condition possibly connected to coronvirus, and that 14 other states—plus five European countries—are reporting similar cases.Cuomo said that 60% of the sick children tested positive for COVID-19, while 40% tested positive for antibodies.
“Children may have been exposed weeks before” to COVID-19, Cuomo said, adding that the illness impacts all races. The number of symptoms “makes it even harder for a parent to know what they’re dealing with,” said Cuomo, calling it “a parent’s worst nightmare.”
