Pierson Sobush scores a late goal to give Greater Sudbury the win
The Greater Sudbury Cubs skated to a 2-1 win over the Blind River Beavers on March 2, putting an end to the Beavers’ 12-game win streak.
Cubs star Pierson Sobush scored a late second period goal and the team kept Blind River in check, leading to the narrow victory. “Sobush would also open the scoring for the Cubs as he connected at 12:46 into the match-up as he slammed in a rebound off a Christopher Innes from the slot that beat Blind River starter Gavin Disano.”
The Beavers drew level four and a half minutes into the middle stanza thanks to Owen Arnold, who powered his way along the left side boards before cutting around a defender and roofing one, short side, on Greater Sudbury netminder Noah Metivier.“On the play, he went to the net on the left side and finished off some crisp passing from teammates Samuel Assinewai and Oliver Smith where he quickly whipped it in.
