Between the split peas and smoky ham, this is creamy, comforting soup is perfect for cold days:
Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan or pot over medium heat.
Add the celery, onion, carrots, and garlic and sauté for about 5 minutes, until the vegetables are soft.Turn the heat down to low and simmer for about 40 minutes, until the peas have turned very soft and begin to lose their shape, leaving you with a thick soup. Discard the bay leaves.So you love homemade soup , but are short on time. Not to fear, this hearty soup will cook great in aor crockpot. You can follow the same recipe, just extend the time and cook on a medium setting.
