It is a decline from 2021, when 23 people were killed in 21 fatal crashes, the patrol says.

The 16 fatal crashes occurred from Friday, July 1, through Monday, July 4, information released by the Highway Patrol shows. Twelve of those crashes involved impaired drivers. In 2020, 25 people were killed in crashes during the holiday weekend.
