OPH continues to advise residents to stay current with their booster shots, particularly people considered to be at most risk, such as those over the age of 65 and people with pre-existing conditions.The agency confirmed last week it is still waiting for shipments of the latest COVID-19 vaccines that target the XBB.1.5 subvariant, but it could be a few more weeks before the vaccine arrives.

Health Canada has authorized different vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna that target the XBB.1.5 subvariant. The federal agency will also a vaccine submission from Novavax.62: Confirmed COVID-19 patients in Ottawa hospitals as of Oct. 2 ; 35 admitted for COVID-19 and 27 admitted for other reasons. Zero are in ICU.
