The median age of a person to die due to Covid during the pandemic has been 82, while 72% of deaths have been in the over 75s. By 12 August, RCT had reached a total of 1,111 deaths and also had the seventh highest crude mortality rate of all local authorities across England and Wales.Cardiff has had the most deaths in Wales - 1,119 - up to 12 August.

The community with the highest number of Covid deaths across 2020 and 2021, including in the first two waves of the pandemic, was Tonyrefail West, with a total of 63 deaths due to Covid.
