Just because we're stuck at home doesn't mean it can't be pool time.
The coronavirus pandemic is casting a dark cloud over prime pool season, so some people are making their own splashy fun at home. Aquatics fans desperate for a dip are turning to inflatable kiddie pools or building socially distant swimming holes in their backyards.
“With COVID, and the trepidation with travel, people are taking that money and investing it in a backyard pool,” Hickman said. “Most of the industry had shut down for a period of time. Now they’re saying their phones are ringing off the hook.” ‘It is truly becoming their summer vacation’ There’s no evidence that COVID-19 can spread to people from swimming-pool water, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “Proper operation and disinfection of pools, hot tubs, and water playgrounds should kill the virus that causes COVID-19,” the CDC says on its website.
“ ‘With COVID, and the trepidation with travel, people are taking that money and investing it in a backyard pool.’ ”
