The settlement brings to $9.4 million the amount that the county has paid in lawsuits regarding actions by former sheriff’s deputy Andrew Hall since 2018.

. In the video, Wilson is seen holding a knife several steps away from Hall, who repeatedly shouts “Drop the knife!” before shooting Wilson. Hall was originally cleared of wrongdoing by the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office in Arboleda’s death, allowing him to return to work. But he came under scrutiny once more following the deadly encounter with Wilson.

A county spokesperson, as well as spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, did not immediately return messages by this news organization seeking comment on the settlement. Hall’s attorney also did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
