Metra’s 147th Street/Sibley Boulevard station in Harvey will close for a year or more beginning next month.
The station on the Metra Electric line will close May 16 and is expected to remain closed for 12 to 15 months.includes replacing concrete platforms with a composite material intended to last longer and adding an elevator to make the station accessible to people with disabilities. The station building and passenger shelters will be replaced, and a canopy will be added that will cover much of the platform.

The total project, including contingencies, construction management and other costs, is budgeted to be $20 million, Metra said.
