Four Chesterton High School seniors are among the nation’s 16,000 semifinalists announced in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Corporation competition. The CHS students cited in the 69th annual competition are Jai Barath, Adrian Dooley, Matthew Haubold and Payton Whalen. Barath is the son of James and Phuong Barath of Chesterton. He plans to study computer science at either Stanford, Michigan, Notre Dame or Purdue. Dooley is the son of Joseph and Lesley Dooley of Westville.
. Children’s tickets include a pumpkin. Additional pumpkins can be purchased at the ticket office prior to departure for $3 each. For more information, call the depot on Saturdays at 574-869-3950.Shannon Farm and Homestead along with Gary Community Partnership will join with Purdue Extension-Lake County to provide an in-person farm tour from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Shannon Farm and Homestead, Gary. The tour is free.
