To bemoan voters as apathetic ignores the systemic barriers to voting, especially for communities of color and people who are low-income — not being able to get online to research the ballot and find the closest voting center; not having reliable transportation; not having flexibility to take time off from work. Voting requires navigating all these inequities at once.
