USD works to eclipse .500 as Lavin builds culture and chemistry with a dozen new players in debut season
An entire side of a conference room in the University of San Diego men’s basketball office is wallpapered with a photo of a raucous and roaring crowd at Jenny Craig Pavilion. From wall to wall, floor to ceiling, it’s a sea of powder blue leaning in, straining euphorically, mouths agape.

The roster is full of puzzle pieces from all types of college basketball outposts. Eric Williams Jr. came from Oregon, while Jaiden Delaire played at Stanford. Marcellus Earlington traveled cross country from St. John’s. Jase Townsend and Sigu Sisoho Jaware are key contributors, too.The key word for Lavin to bear hug: patience.
