Colombian President Gustavo Petro has rejected a proposal from Congress urging him to recognize Edmundo González, the leader of the Venezuelan opposition, as the legitimate president of Venezuela instead of Nicolás Maduro. Petro stated that the Congress cannot demand his stance on international matters and pledged to consult the general interest of Colombian society before making any decisions.
