An 18-year-old woman from New Jersey who attends Belmont University was critically injured after being shot in the head while walking in a park in Nashville on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
The Monmouth County resident was on the track in Edgehill Community Memorial Gardens Park when she was struck by a shot fired from a public housing complex across the street, Nashville Metro police said. She is in “extremely critical condition” at an area hospital, authorities said early Wednesday. Police later charged Shaquille Taylor, 29, with aggravated assault and evidence tampering. Taylor intended to a shoot at a car, officials said.
