Cal State San Marcos hasn’t sniffed success during its eight years in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. San Marcos has never had a winning record in the CCAA. Until now. This weekend is special for the Cougars , who find themselves in a first-place showdown with Cal State Monterey Bay . The Otters are ranked No. 19 in Division II coming into this weekend’s four game series at San Marcos.
leads the conference in batting , boosted by third baseman Matt Halbach and catcher Emiliano Gonzalez , and is second in runs per game . The Tritons are second in ERA , with closer Izaak Martinez leading the conference in the category. Martinez has allowed only one earned run in 23 innings while accumulating a Big West-leading five saves. San Diego State takes a week off from conference for a three-game series this weekend at Hawaii .
