Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin, says the band will put touring on hold until the band can find a 'sustainable, carbon-neutral' way to stage live gigs
: Coldplay may be releasing a new album on Friday, but the band has already decided against touring with their latest material until they can find a “sustainable, carbon neutral” way to do it.: “We’re taking time over the next year or two to work out how our tour can not only be sustainable, but how it can be actively beneficial.” He added that the band wanted future tours to “have a positive impact.
The move contrasts Coldplay's last world tour, A Head Full Of Dreams, where the band played 122 dates in over a dozen countries. Martin told the BBC that he wanted the next tour to be “the best version of a tour like that environmentally.” The band’s double album, “Everyday Life,” will be released on Friday. To mark it, the band will perform in Amman, Jordan, at sunrise and sunset, with the performances being streamed on YouTube. Martin said the Middle Eastern country is a place “where we don’t normally get to play.”: “The hardest thing is the flying side of things. But .. .our dream is to have a show with no single-use plastic, to have it largely solar-powered. We’ve done a lot of big tours at this point.
