Coco Gauff will play her first U.S. Open match on Tuesday. Fans should savor every moment, because they won’t be seeing much of her until she turns 16 next March.

The tennis tournament in Winston-Salem, N.C., a small tune-up held the week before the U.S. Open, doesn’t usually attract much attention. But earlier this summer came the surprising news that Cori “Coco” Gauff, age 15, would play in a match. The exhibition sold out, the first time that had happened for an event there since 2012.
