America spent $145 billion on damaged home from 20 climate events in 2021 — it will only get more expensive

its services of underserved communities, to include individuals with low income and people of color, who they say"struggle more when recovering from disasters in comparison to communities with greater resources." The amendment applies to its Individual Assistance Program and Policy Guide and has created additional flexibilities that ensure access to assistance for all survivors.

"Climate change is our country's biggest crisis," FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell said."Our communities will continue to suffer from losses caused by extreme weather events unless we invest in mitigation efforts to reduce the impacts of climate change." She added that new funding will allow the organization to provide direct aid to states, tribes, and territories to complete mitigation projects, build better infrastructure and create long term solutions.

Whether homeowners pay for repairs out-of-pocket, through insurance, or FEMA aid, it's clear the US is in the phase of paying to fix the results of climate crisis after failing to prevent it.Subscribe to push notifications
