The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission is involved in what it says is a “highly competitive” bidding process to attract Special Olympics USA Games in 2030.

Deadline for the bid is Tuesday, Oct. 1. That process involves coordinated planning between local and statewide officials to put Northeast Ohio in the spotlight as host city. The commission said the process is “highly competitive.” A myriad of entities are coming together in the bidding process. In addition to the sports commission, representatives are from Destination Cleveland, Special Olympics Ohio, the city of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, state of Ohio, congressional and corporate leadership, universities, hospital and transportation systems and others.
