Attorneys for a Bellevue police officer are accusing the city of leaving him without health benefits months after he was injured on the job.

As he was traveling over the Michigan Street onramp, Officer Bereta’s motorcycle hit the side of the ramp, and he was ejected,The accident left him with serious injuries to his back, leg, and shoulder from the fall, and his attorneys said he is still fully disabled months later, unable to return to work.

“They now have to come up with a couple thousand dollars a month for health insurance, and they can’t afford it,” Hamoudi said. “Right now, what he’s trying to do is he’s trying to recover.” “The city needs to step up and say you know what, we support you, and we’re going to make sure you’re not going to get off these benefits. It’s very simple,” Hamoudi said.City officials said they’re limited in what they can share about an employee’s health benefits but shared this in a statement:
