Citigroup's Jane Fraser is in line to become the first CEO of a major bank:

and said that if women are promoted and hired to first-level management positions at the same rate as their male counterparts, there will be 1 million more women in management positions in corporate America in the next five years.

Fraser has ascended the ranks at Citigroup for 15 years and has led multiple groups, including the Corporate Strategy and Mergers and Acquisitions group during the financial crisis and, more recently, Citi Latin America. In the announcement, Corbat noted that he is committed to leading the company “in the coming years,” but Fraser’s promotion may mean she will be next in line, and the first female CEO of one of the nation’s largest banks.
