Afghan paramilitary forces supported by the Central Intelligence Agency have carried out extrajudicial executions and other atrocities, some amounting to war crimes, and should be disbanded, a rights group said

Under a rejuvenated Afghan policy President Trump announced in 2017, the U.S. stepped up operations against Taliban fighters in an attempt to stem their reach across the country and expanded them again last year to gain leverage in direct talks with Taliban officials in the Gulf state of Qatar.
