Shares of Chinese travel, consumer companies surge as some COVID-19 rules eased
Shares of Chinese travel and consumer companies gained ground in Hong Kong after Beijing eased some Covid-19 restrictions, improving the outlook for sectors directly hit by the pandemic and the broader economic recovery.
China’s three major airlines, Air China Ltd. 601111, -3.11%, China Southern Airlines Co. 600029, +0.13% and China Eastern Airlines Corp. 600115, +1.14%, added between 2.2% and 5.1%, while travel retailer China Tourism Group Duty Free Corp. 601888, +3.65% climbed 7.1%.
