Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey may kick off a cinematic universe. 'People have been messaging saying they really want to see Bambi versus Pooh. There are many, many, many other ideas out there which aren’t tied to Disney.'

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey director, Rhys Frake-Waterfield, has announced plans to continue his "twisted" rendition of A. A. Milne and E. H. Shepard's beloved teddy bear in a shared cinematic universe of similarly horrifying adaptations of other children's stories, including Bambi and others in the public domain. The micro-budget slasher releases internationally on February 15th, while its Mexico release is already approaching $1 million earned.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Shared universes including the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Star Wars Universe have proved to be hugely profitable at the box office, and though Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey could beat expectations, it likely won't amass the kind of monumental revenue produced by films in the aforementioned franchises.

The idea is that we’re going to try and imagine they’re all in the same world, so we can have crossovers. People have been messaging saying they really want to see Bambi versus Pooh. There are many, many, many other ideas out there which aren’t tied to Disney, loads of old fairytales and urban legends, concepts that are synonymous with your childhood, and they’re the ones which I want to build up into a twisted alternative reality.

Another story confirmed by Frake-Waterfield to be in development is a Bambi horror inspired by Netflix's The Ritual, tentatively titled Bambi: The Reckoning. The director has already received messages from those wishing to see a crossover-style event that would see Winnie the Pooh take on the roe deer. This potential future crossover movie could be in a similar vein as other previous clashes between notorious villains in film, including Alien vs. Predator and Freddy vs. Jason.

Frake-Waterfield has also noted that he would like to include "old fairytales and urban legends," meaning there are countless stories that could receive a bloody retelling.
