The Chiefs may have to evolve their offense yet again next season, but don't bet against them. ChiefsKingdom

of All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill in March of last year necessitated this 2022 season’s offensive evolution. The Chiefs opted not to tie down a significant portion of their salary cap in future seasons to Hill , Patrick Mahomes , and players such as Chris Jones and Joe Thuney .

JuJu Smith-Schuster, signed to a one-year deal in March, excelled at running Hill’s underneath route tree. Marquez Valdes-Scantling, signed to a three-year deal the day after the Hill trade, took Hill’s mantle as a vertical threat. Tampa Bay Buccaneers castoff Justin Watson played an important role in Kansas City’s heavy personnel packages.

Smith-Schuster, Kansas City’s leading receiver is slated to hit free agency, where he and Patriots free agent Jakobi Meyers are likely the two best available options at the position. Smith-Schuster may have priced himself out of Kansas City. Joining him in free agency are Hardman and Watson, with Valdes-Scantling looming as a cut candidate as a player who at times struggled to forge a consistent connection with Mahomes and whose $7 million in cap savings may come in handy for a team $3.
