More than 91,000 students have registered for Chicago Public Schools’ free, weekly COVID-19 testing, but there are still about 50 schools that have not received enough sign-ups from unvaccinated students.

Nearly 55,500 COVID-19 tests were given to students and staff last week through CPS’ in-school program, with a positivity rate of 1%. That is the most tests the district has administered this school year after aAbout 1,200 CPS student and 300 adult cases were reported last week, a decrease in both student and adult cases from the prior week. There were no classes Friday because it was a school-improvement day for the district.

Several elementary schools logged high case numbers last month, and the safety committees for six of these schools voted to shift to remote learning for five days, per the terms of the CTU-CPS agreement.
