A man from Chicago was arrested after a State Trooper was shot in Springfield Tuesday night.
State police say an officer was shot in the 1600 block of Toronto Road at 10:47 p.m. in Sangamon County.
The trooper had a run-in with 37-year-old Cristobal Santana, who is believed to be wanted in connection with a homicide in Chicago. Gunshots were fired, and the trooper was struck in the leg. Santana fled his vehicle on foot, but was later arrested at 1:58 a.m. Toronto Road will be closed from Cotton Hill Road to Horseview Drive for an extended and unknown period of time.
