Chelsea Bridge taser tragedy – family of Oladeji Omishore join protest tomorrow against deaths in custody
His family will be marching alongside United Families & Friends at their annual rally and demonstration calling for an end to state killings. “We are raising awareness around the lethal use of tasering especially with people who are experiencing a mental health crisis,” she added. The Omishore family are calling for the IOPC to conduct a judicial review into their decision not to “hold a criminal or conduct investigation” into Oladeji’s death., they are deeply concerned about the disproportionate use of force or restraint against black men and those in mental health crisis by the police in the UK and in the United States.
Ms Omishore said when police involved deaths occur in the UK, there needs to be a similar community response to the what occurred during the Black Lives Matter movement following the murder of George Floyd in the United States. how his brother died has sent “shockwaves and reverberations” around the whole community.
