Silseth, in the running with Tucker Davidson and Griffin Canning for the No. 6 starter job, did not allow a baserunner in his first two innings, but he didn’t get out of the fourth.

Chase Silseth, who is one of the candidates for the Angels’ No. 6 starter job, gave up eight runs in the Angels’ 10-0 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Monday in Goodyear, Ariz.Silseth started with two perfect innings, but he lasted only 3-1/3. He gave up one in the third and then seven more in the fourth. Silseth struck out two and walked one. “It sounds like a broken record to last year,” Silseth said.

“Things go good and then I let them trickle away. Bottom line, I can’t let that happen. I just kind of lost feel. Lost rhythm. Just kind of left some pitches up that they did some damage on.” Silseth was hanging around the fringes of the No. 6 starter competition based on allowing four runs in his first 10 innings, but he’s now allowed 12 runs in 13-2/3 innings.
