Social media platforms have been blocked in Chad for over a year now. This makes it far and away the longest social media outage perpetrated in an African country.
One response by internet users has been to spread more information about VPNs and other tools for circumventing blocks, as in Zimbabwe and. It may also be that encouraging more internet service providers and mobile platforms would help, as it might be more complicated to get a bevy of operators to block certain sites, versus just a handful.
