SANDUSKY, Ohio – Coaster fans will have to wait another year to ride a reimagined Top Thrill Dragster, according to a new video released Monday by Cedar Point.
In September, Cedar Point announced that the ride was being “retired,” although it was clear even then that the park planned to alter and reopen the ride in some capacity. It wasn’t clear, however, whether the reworked coaster would debut in 2023 or 2024.and other social media sites, ends that speculation with these words: “Coming 2024.”
Park spokesman Tony Clark said additional details about the ride would be forthcoming. “We know there is a lot of curiosity surrounding the project, and the video ensures that our guests and fans are aware of the timeline, namely that it would not debut for the 2023 season,” he said. “We look forward to sharing more information in the future.”
When it debuted in 2003, the ride was the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world. It reached a top speed of 120 mph in just 4 seconds and featured a 420-foot-high first hill.
