The CDC did not respond to questions about the political rallies. Instead, Butler said the guidelines for attending events aren't tied to any particular mass gatherings. which found that a majority of Americans supported actions taken to slow the spread of the coronavirus, including stay-at-home orders, nonessential business closures and wearing cloth masks in public.

More than 84 percent of Americans said that their state's actions struck the right balance or were not restrictive enough.
