March Break is a busy travelling time for families and if you’re planning on crossing the border, the Canadian Border Services Agency has some tips to make sure you get across smoothly.
When travelling with children, you should make sure the accompanying adults has a consent letter, authorizing them to travel with the child if they share custody or are not the parent or legal guardian. Border services officers are always watching for missing children and in the absence of the letter, officers may ask additional questions.
The CBSA says be prepared to declare. Have your receipts readily available for good purchased or received while outside Canada. If you’re travelling with firearms, consult the CBSA’s website for the rules around firearms and other restricted and prohibited goods.
