The federally-funded national broadcaster claims to be under 'immense pressure' financially after COVID-19
OTTAWA, Ont. — Access to Information records shows the CBC now has 144 corporate directors getting paid six-figure salaries, averaging $135,388 excluding bonuses and expenses, according toThis while the public broadcaster has said it has “immense pressure” on its finances after the pandemic.
“The COVID-19 pandemic and the challenges of covering it put immense pressure on CBC’s workforce, operations, finances and systems,” said an April 20, 2021 briefing note Funding Support For The CBC by the Department of Canadian Heritage.“Extraordinary times require extraordinary measures,” said Susan Marjetti, general manager of news, at the time.
