Cavalry's show of CPL success slowed by stingy Atlético Ottawa CavsFC CanPL yyc
Back on July 12 at Spruce Meadows, Cavalry dropped a 2-0 affair to Ottleti — the only other mark during a span of five wins in seven contests for Aird & Co. that’s boosted them to a spot in the CPL’s top three.
“I think that once you start to win games against an opponent and you start to the psychological battle, then every time you face them, it is a tough one to start to manage your emotions and knowing that in the previous games, you were not able to break the other team,” said Ottleti manager Carlos González. “So I think that it is about this, although Cavalry is a great team and they are doing great performances.
That was Cavalry with a barrage of chances from then on, including Aird’s early attempt on a Ben Fisk delivery to the far post that nearly found the mark but was booted out of harm — just inches from the goal-line — by Ottleti centre-back MacDonald Niba. But the Ottawa crew kept its focus only on keeping the ball out of its own goal for Ingham’s clean-sheet against a Cavalry crew without leading goal-getter Myer Bevan.Article content
