Investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s Office are hoping that information from furnace experts in the mechanical and electrical fields will help them determine what caused the explosion at I. Schumann & Co. on Feb. 20.
and injured 13 at a manufacturing plant remains unknown, but investigators have ruled out criminal activity.
Steven Mullins, 46, of North Ridgeville, a maintenance worker at the plant, was killed in the explosion. I. Schumann recycles scrap metals and remelts them into new products. The company creates brass and bronze alloys in the form of ingots and pellets, which are used in the energy, transportation and construction industries.
