Breaking: Carlos Ghosn has been released after posting bail of nearly $9 million. The former Nissan chairman had been in a Tokyo jail since Nov. 19.
TOKYO—Carlos Ghosn was freed from jail Wednesday after what he called a “terrible ordeal” of 108 days behind bars, allowing the former Nissan Motor Co. chairman to prepare for his trial at a new home in Tokyo.
Television footage showed Mr. Ghosn wearing a mask, blue cap and workman’s uniform leaving the jail surrounded by jail staff. He got into a van that drove out of the jail gates and onto the Tokyo streets as hundreds of journalists gathered at the Tokyo Detention House watched.
