Luis Sharpe overcame addiction after it ruined his post-football life, and is trying to put it all back together by sharing his story.

What are some of the things that happened to you as a result of the addiction and what kind of woke you up and made you realize you had a problem?"The thing about addiction that the ends are all the same. Jails, institutions and death. There's no escaping one of those three things happening. And other than death, I experienced the jails. I experienced the institution.

There are programs out there that you can call and you can talk to, and get yourself the treatment and the rehabilitation services that you need. And one of the issues, I think, with professional football players, we have this certain image that we feel that we need to portray, and we feel that if we talk about it, if we talk about issues that we have, that somehow will downgrade or degrade the image that we present to the public to the fans.
